Levels and Values

Understanding the difference between levels and values

Updated over a week ago

What are Taxonomy Levels?

A taxonomy level refers to the different components within a naming convention.

Examples of levels include Channel, Market, Product. Each level represents a part of the final trafficked name and helps maintain consistency and structure.

What are Taxonomy Values?

Taxonomy values are the actual entries or options within a taxonomy level. For example, if Market is a level, the values might include UK, France, or Germany.

Types of value permissions

There are three types of value permissions which can be attributed to a level:

  1. Curated

    • The values are fixed, and users can only select from a predefined list.

    • Ideal for levels where consistency is critical, such as Channel or Market.

  2. Approval Required

    • Users can add new values, but an Admin must approve them before they can be used.

    • This is useful for levels that may need flexibility but require oversight, such as Offers.

  3. Free Entry

    • Users can enter any value without restrictions.

    • Suitable for levels like PO Numbers, where each entry may be unique.
