What are Datasources?

Understanding Datasources in Bright Analytics.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Datasources form the foundations of the semantic layer and report engine. They correspond to tables in the underlying data warehouse. Each datasource is made up of Fields (columns), which store different types of data. Everything within your data model is ultimately connected to a datasource.

What Can Datasources Contain?

  • Numerical Data: Quantitative information such as sales figures or metrics.

  • Metadata: Descriptive data that provides context or additional information about your primary data.

  • Mapping Data: Relationships between two or more datasources, often referred to as meta tables, that help tie different datasets together.

Accessing Datasources

All your data connectors and integrations are housed under the 'Datasources' section in Bright Analytics. Here, you can:

  • View all available datasources.

  • Inspect the fields being pulled in from each datasource.
